Rohan Roots

BIO

Rohan Roots is a New Jersey–based musician, producer, DJ, and sound healer crafting downtempo journeys that blend ambient, reggae, dub, Indian classical, and lo-fi beat culture. His guitar-led soundscapes weave Himalayan singing bowls, drones, nature field recordings, oud, and deep dub basslines into immersive, meditative grooves for deep listening, embodied movement, and inner travel.
A composer for award-winning film and television—including Sita Sings the Blues—Rohan’s music has appeared on several networks including MTV, Bravo, and PBS. His early releases Roots and Roots RMX, emerging from the Asian Massive NYC movement, gained international recognition across Europe, Australia, and India. His connection with yoga began over a decade ago when he was selected to compose the theme music and soundscape for the yoga television series Om Life on ImaginAsian Network.
Rooted in Afro-Caribbean and Indo-Guyanese heritage, and shaped by extensive study in Rishikesh and the Himalayas, Rohan integrates ancient vibrational practices with modern production. Today, he creates music at the intersection of wellness, culture, and consciousness—sonic medicine designed to ground, uplift, and expand. His work is deeply rooted in intention: to transmit positive energy, cultivate presence, and invite listeners into deeper states of balance, awareness, and connection through sound.
